The aim of the WA Senior School Japanese Language Speech Contest 2021 is to encourage students of Japanese to showcase their language skills in a challenging environment. Winners from the WA competition will progress to the Australian final on Saturday, October 2nd 2021 which will be held at the Japan Foundation, Sydney.
The 2021 competition is generously sponsored by the Japan Foundation, Sydney, and supported by the University of Western Australia, Consulate-General of Japan in Perth, and Hyogo Prefectural Government Cultural Centre.
The WA competition has three (3) categories:
- High School Senior Division (Years 11/12)
- Background Speaker Division

Up to two students per school per category will be accepted in the High School Senior Division. Please note that only the winners of the High School and Open Divisions are eligible to compete at the national final.
All contestants will receive a participation certificate. Prizes will also be awarded in each division.
